Kirby Turner has been practicing in the areas of patent and intellectual property law since 2004 and supports a broad range of clients ranging from larger public corporations to smaller start-up companies. He concentrates his practice on patent preparation and prosecution, conducting invalidity and non-infringement studies, writing formal legal opinions, portfolio management, and patent counseling work. Kirby has worked with a wide variety of technologies in the electrical and computer software areas, including telecommunications, computer networking, memory storage devices, cloud computing, data storage systems, and wireless communications. Prior to joining the Sage Patent Group, Kirby worked as the Vice President of Technology and in-house IP Counsel for a lithium metal battery material research and manufacturing company.

Kirby earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (summa cum laude) at the Georgia Institute of Technology and his B.S. in Civil Engineering (cum laude) at North Carolina State University. Before attending law school, he worked in the engineering department at the Carolina Power and Light Company (now Duke Energy). Kirby earned his Juris Doctor at the Ohio State University College of Law where he also served as a member of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. He is admitted to the State Bars of North Carolina and Georgia and is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Kirby is currently a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Carolina Patent Trademark and Copyright Law Association, and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
