Scott C. Hatfield


Scott Hatfield has been practicing law since 1993, and the focus of his practice relates to patents and related matters.  Scott has substantial experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and he has worked extensively with technologies relating to telecommunications, wireless communications, networking, microelectronics, semiconductor materials, electronics, and software.  Prior to practicing law, Scott worked as an electrical engineer at Delco Electronics and at NCR, in fields relating to computing, networking, testing, integrated circuit device structures, failure analysis, process development, and semiconductor materials. 

Scott has also been active in professional and community activities.  For example, Scott has been involved with the Wake County Bar Association (Board of Directors; President’s Award of Excellence; Technology Committee, Chair; Long Range Planning Committee; and Social Committee); the North Carolina  Bar Association (Law Practice Management Committee, Treasurer); and the Vanderbilt Alumni Association (National Alumni Association Board of Directors; and National Outreach Committee, Chair; and N.C. Triangle Chapter, President). 

Scott received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, summa cum laude, and his Juris Doctor Degree from Vanderbilt University.
